Spare Wheel & Roof Access System

The Transit Mk8 & Mk9 Combination Carrier is a structural rear-door upgrade allowing you to carry a full-size spare wheel while providing secure, repeatable access to roof-mounted equipment. Developed as part of our modular rear-door ecosystem, the system is designed to manage the combined forces introduced by an offset spare wheel and repeated ladder use.

Engineering & Architecture

At the core of the design is our TRAC mounting architecture. Panel-gap brackets and profile-matched stiffener brackets work together to establish a controlled load path through the door, distributing forces across reinforced structural regions instead of relying on the latchside door skin or panel gap flanges alone.

• Refined Installation: The system is designed for a no-drill installation across all primary mounting points. To ensure maximum rigidity under load, only one precision hole is required through the latch-side skin; this point is fully integrated into and protected by the TRAC load-path solution to prevent skin deformation.

• Hinge Compatibility: Engineered for versatility, this carrier is fully compatible with both 180° and 270° factory hinges.

Built for Purpose

The integrated ladder provides confident, repeatable roof access for solar panels and storage, while the spare wheel mount securely supports oversized tyres (up to 37”) without compromising door operation. Relocating the spare wheel also frees valuable underbody space for tanks, storage, or auxiliary equipment—without introducing additional stress into the vehicle structure.
